Rose Hill

Rose Hill Station

Celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2019, Rose Hill (Marple, Stockport) station is at the terminus of a spur line of the Hope Valley line with service to Manchester Piccadilly on Northern Trains. There is direct access to Middlewood Way, a ten-mile trail ending at Macclesfield  which follows the route of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple railway.

Consequently it is now one of the gateways to Cheshire and Derbyshire and onwards to the Pennines.

There is a very active friends group at the station, they have made many improvements to the station over recent years. The aims of the group are  to promote the greater use of Rose Hill station; to improve the environment of the station and its surroundings by renovating shrub and flower beds, by painting handrails, seats, steps etc; to campaign for an improved train service; to campaign for better integration of all public transport at Rose Hill station; to encourage the local community, including the local schools, to participate in events at Rose Hill station; to encourage the rail companies to make Rose Hill a zero carbon station.

They have also designed a number of walks based around the station. Details of the walks can be found here.
